Hi everyone!
It was great to see the percentages during the election results! We talked about them in math since they are part of our ratio unit! This week we will be reviewing Module 1 for our test on Wednesday, 11/14. We will be reviewing Monday and Tuesday working on the study guide as part of our math stations. Math stations are a part of every lesson. They involve small groups, technology and basic skills. We also started using Plickers as a wrap up to what we are learning. Questions you can ask your child are: What are Plickers? and What is a percent? I have added Essential Questions as part of our I Can Statements for each lesson. Essential questions take what we are learning and apply the math we use beyond the classroom. They give a sense of purpose as to why we are learning the math concepts. Examples: When and why do we estimate?, Is there a pattern?. For our percent unit, the Essential Question is: When and where do use percents in real life situations?. Next up, we will be starting Module 2 working on dividing fractions and decimal operations.
