Hi,
We finished our unit on multiplying and dividing fractions and now we are beginning ratios.
Today, we did a ratio exploratory activity called Follow Your Nose with fruit loops cereal. It was a scaffolded activity that helped reinforce what ratios are. We will be using ratios to solve real life situations using tape diagrams and double number lines as well! During the beginning of class, we are doing weekly math talks. Examples of weekly math talks are: What number does not belong?, Estimating what is too high, too low, the actual number of candy corn pieces in a bag, What ways can you write the number 36, etc. It is real nice to see students engaged in math talks with their classmates!
