We had a great performance by the Grant High School Choir this morning. This week in math we have been reviewing and learning new concepts. For periods 1 and 3, we have now mastered multiplying, dividing, adding and subtracting rational numbers. There will be a test on 12/16. For periods 7 and 8 we first learned how to use models for dividing a whole number by a fraction. The models help support why the math way works. Next, we learned it the math way. Do you know what it is? Ask your child. The steps are on pages 47-48 of the interactive student notebooks. For periods 2 and 9, we used models for adding and subtracting fractions with unlike denominators. The posters periods 2 and 9 created for mixed numbers and improper fractions look great! Next, we learned the math way. Do you know steps? Ask your child, the steps are on pages 53-54 of the interactive student notebooks. I am starting a candy cane guess the number game. Each day, 3 number clues will be given. Students get one chance each day to guess the number. By Friday next week all the number clues will be given and the student with the correct number guess wins a Lifesaver mints candy cane. Ready for the first three clues?
1) It is a 3-digit number.
2) It is a composite number.
3) It is an integer.
Have a very nice weekend!
